DUTCH GIRL

My money just *slipped* into that machine, I swear.

T playing a week long gig at a new casino in town = bad bad behavior for his broke and unemployed, but eager to gamble anyway, wife. Especially a casino that has nickle video slots.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, tonight I joined the ranks of those pathetic women who sit alone at slot machines with a smoke hanging out of their mouths, a vodka and diet coke in a plastic cup in their hands, and a glazed look in their eyes as they shovel away their hard-earned cash. I'm not proud, but there you go. Thankfully, I broke even rather than losing a bunch of money, but it could have gone either way at some points.

MUST. NOT. DO. THAT. AGAIN.

In other news, my festival job is going well, despite the fact that our office email has been down for 2 days. I decided today that this is the perfect kind of summer job for me. No long term stress, just the short-term of the few days of the festival, and then, no matter what happens, it will be over, and so not my problem. Plus, it's something I'm quite good at, and it's never boring. Yesterday, I was meeting with the big mucky-mucks from Vancouver who are doing the 10 city simul-cast and planting 5 serious camera locations at our little festival site to broadcast live. Today, we met with the Premier's office, to plan his attendance at the festival, since he's decided our site will be the place to be on the 1st, which is Centennial Day. Friday I meet with guys from the roads division of the city, about street closures, the police and the Premier's security detail, and next week, it's someone from EMS, the Mayor's office, and the guy who's supplying portapotties. Something new all the time. I like it.

Also, I'm quite excited today about the prospect of the lovely Neko and her Dave coming to visit us. I seriously hope they do it. It would be so much fun to meet some of our little diaryland circle of friends. I would love to meet you all someday.

Well, that's all for now. It's WAY past bedtime. Ciao.
